Yikes, I did NOT intend to go quiet on you for so long, but there's scarcely even been time to knit/crochet! What with the twinnage, and redeveloping the garden, and lots of new patients to assess at work, and a stonking big yarn-related writing commission, and marathon training, and... and... and... I'm sure you get the gist. Talking of marathon prep, it turns out that there's more to the training than just eating all the pasta, so I've been upping my running... and eating all the pasta. If Continue Reading
Why I’m No Longer On Speaking Terms With Winter
So anyway, I said to the weather gods, "You're not having me on again this time, are you? It's absolutely definitely going to snow in Oxfordshire on Tuesday night?" And they said - through the medium of their high priests the weather forecasters - "Yup, you better believe it, Twisted." And I said, "Because you know, I haven't glimpsed snow in two long years and I'm getting twitchy." And they said, "Well you will tonight. Heaps of the stuff. Enough for a really joyful, photo-heavy blog post." So Continue Reading
Very Little Knitting
And..................................................................... hello. This transmission of knitting/crochet/outdoorsy trivia was briefly interrupted by an icky vomiting bug. I haven't knitted for several days. This is unprecedented. It's odd, and it's most definitely quite wrong. Please don't try this at home, people. Mostly Outdoors
This summer, the toddler twinnage and I are spending lots of happy time (and a fair ol' portion of grumpy grizzly Mummy-I-Want-To-Go-Home-NOWWWWWW time) outdoors. Much of this hasn't been compatible with knitting/crochet, but the toddler twinnage seem to be under the impression that I should actively parent them. So we've been to say hello to the rescue donkeys (where we met a pig who, rather confusingly, kept saying 'woof')... ...and I knitted my way to a music Continue Reading
The Ridgeway
Out-and-about today with the twinnage and the stoic spouse. No, this isn't a knitting post, but I'm 80% of the way through my latest project and will "ta-dah" it in a few days' time. So, we went to part of the Ridgeway. I've often walked small sections of this ancient 85-mile trail before. It's a long, raised chalk ridge, trudged for at least the last 5000 years by herdsmen, traders, soldiers, and other travellers. Its height helped navigation and security, and raised it a little over the Continue Reading
