OK, it’s not a chicken, it’s a cockerel.
My friend dropped heavy hints that she wanted a knitted model of Tuesday, her lovely pet chicken:-
Here she is, visiting our house. And here’s the replica. OK she’s had a gender change and lost her beautiful markings, but having spent days (and days) on this, I’m a bit chickened out.

Love it! Perhaps you could duplicate stitch some lighter brown on the wings to get the effect?
The Twisted Yarn says
Yes, that’s a really good idea. I am suffering a little chicken-related motivation problem at the moment, though!

Love your knitted chicken! What a character! I bet this took you ages to make. Did you create the pattern yourself?
The Twisted Yarn says
Thank you! No I can’t take any credit for the pattern. It’s a design by ‘Mad Monkey Knits’ on Ravelry, aka Christine Grant. I’ve tried a few of her patterns (eg pigeons) and they’re all really good.
Love your crocheted figures on your blog! Especially your little owls and your hippo!
Kate says
Ah thanks! I will have a look at Christine’s patterns – really cute 🙂

Love the Chicken. Don’t think I’ve ever seen another one! Only just discovered your Blog but will keep popping in to see what you’re knitting next.

Thank you! I just tried to look at your blog but my over-zealous computer wouldn’t let me because it thought your site was a phishing scam! Grr.

I LOVE this! Too funny, and I’m thinking of a couple colorways of hand-dyed yarns at my LYS that would show the shading of Tuesday’s feathers to near perfection. Don’t know if my knitting skills are up to it (kind of an intermediate plus, on my good days) but I did find the pattern on Ravelry and I’ll be giving it a try. Glad to have found your blog!

Thank you. I’d love to see photos when you’re done. It’s a clear, well-written pattern so I’m sure you could do it.
