You probably don’t need me to say this yet again, but I will: the monster stained glass window crochet afghan is still in progress. But it’s nearly done. An over-excited ta-da post is coming soon. Much has been neglected in the pursuit of crocheted completeness.
So. Meanwhile. And. Well as it happens, the twinnage and I have been out and about again, pottering around the countryside seeking quirkiness, as we do. Let’s talk about that whilst I busily brandish my crochet hook.
I’ve posted a lot lately about our crazy floods, and much of the watery insanity is still there, but there are signs of spring now, too. Exhibit A:-

Pretty, no?
And today, we went in search of statuarial weirdness, and found it a-plenty. As a bibliophile, I love the curmudgeonliness of this reader. You just know that he’ll never buy a Kindle.

Nor will his mate:-
But at least he’s fared better than his friend who’s fallen into the lake:-
But enough. I must return to my crochet.
Oh, I do like this post. I had a little giggle at the lady in the lake and smiled at the sight of the blossom. Sadly, I’m yet to see any this year.
Thank you! Hope you have some beautiful blossom to admire soon.
Can’t wait to see the finished afghan. And very happy you haven’t floated away in the floodwaters!
Not yet… I did hit an alarming bit of flood in the car in the pitch black late last night. Seem to have survived, though.
Yeah spring has winged her way down to you 🙂 love your photos
Thank you. 🙂
It’s looking thoroughly hopeful on all fronts now – except maybe for the poor wee lass in the lake…. Really, really looking forward to seeing the big reveal – be as over the top as you like, I shall love it! And I haven’t heard anyone else swing that wonderful word ‘curmudgeonly’ around for a while now – I love me a good bit of English …..Yay You!!
Thank you. Yes that lass looks a little chilly. Perhaps I should have attempted a rescue…
Why is there a statue in the middle of the lake?
Love your post!
Those statues are weird, indeed! But fun to see and read about. Now, get back to work. 😉
Yes ma’am!
I’m still waiting with bated breath for signs of spring here. I’ll have to breathe regularly though or my eyebrows will not stay crossed! The first robin can usually be seen about mid-march, but those little tweeties would be crazy to head back here with all of this snow and the -25C temp that we suffered last night. The rafters cracked loudly all night long and the furnace barely stopped. Whew! Got that off my chest. Love your statues. If there were any here in the rural areas, they would be coated in ice and snow and sparkling in the sun right now. Warm March sunshine is heavenly. Looking forward to the afghan completion. No pressure!!! LOL
Minus 25?! MINUS TWENTY-FIVE?!!!!!! Youch. I will never grumble about the cold in southern UK again. Not that we’ve had any significant cold here this winter. Hope your fingers are warm enough to keep crafting.
Cant believe you still have water around from the floods !! It has been dry and sunny and cherry blossoming all around here 🙂
Awaiting your ta-da post on that afghan 🙂 I must say, if I were you, I would complete it only by next Christmas 😀
I fear that that first statue is how my students see me when I tell them they can’t cite wikipedia or a self-published kindle book in their papers!
Love the photographs of the statues! Thanks for sharing that.
You’re very welcome. Thank you for your comment. 🙂
First thought of the statue in the lake was that it looked like one of the Doctor Who weeping angels – frightening!!
