Yes yes yes, kind followers, the ridiculous afghan is nearly done. But I’m at the stage where a single round of stitches takes well over a 50g ball of yarn. That’s a lot of stitches, and I’ve got three more rounds to go. Anyway, the blighter might’ve been finished already if I hadn’t also been doing sneaky preparation for a couple of other projects alongside the magnum opus. Projects of much colour and fluffy fairisle loveliness, I hope. Also the yarn-bomby-housey-thing. And a little (or big) something for my lovely cousin’s newborn.
As you know, we – the toddler twinnage and I – potter around rural south Oxfordshire looking for oddities, but this week, we’ve just been looking for spring. We’ve admired newborn lambs at the farm round the corner:-
We even spotted the lambs gambolling, which I failed to catch on camera, but which is at least considerably less worrying than lambs gambling – that would’ve been a shocking indictment of modern society. (Apologies: poor humour runs in the family.)
Anyway, there are many (beautiful) pictures of daffodils in the blogosphere just now, so I’ll share instead two of the million or so violets that carpet our garden at this time of year:-
And also some pinky-red flowers that evolve into weird semi-edible fruit just outside our window:-
And – because I love you – some cakes and cookies that I’ve just baked in honour of my Mum’s birthday:-
And some seedlings that’ll one day be peppers, cauliflowers, courgettes, tomatoes of various sizes, sprouts, potatoes, and pak choi. Some of them are looking limp because they’re sulking about a recent transplanting. They’ll get over it. Dinner will be ready some time around July…
And then I’ll get back to the *******************************ing afghan. Just a few more stitches…

You are too funny! Happy Spring and all that nonsense! 🙂
The Twisted Yarn says
Thank you, on both counts! Happy spring to you too!

Why thank you! Its a sunny glorious day out!

Loved the joke about the lambs! I don’t know what that says about my sense of humor, but I think yours is great. Also, I’m jealous of your gardening. My current apartment gets very little sunlight and has no place to plant outside. I’m practically a cave dweller….on second thought, a cave might have more character than my apartment.
The Twisted Yarn says
Thank you. And I feel your apartment pain: been there, done that. Wishing you gardening opportunities somehow, some day…

I so wish that it were spring here but it will be some time yet. I have deleted my blog, but I continue to follow yours.
The Twisted Yarn says
Oh no! I’m very sorry to read that you’ve deleted your blog. I’ll miss it. 🙁
annie says
Thanks so much. You’re very kind. Maybe down the road when things get better I’ll start a new blog. I do enjoy yours and will continue to follow.

Thanks, made me laugh! and love photo of your violets, mine are the real shrinking variety & can hardly be seen for the carpet of leaves that cover them. Lambs are pretty cute too, am intrigued by your ‘weird pinky red flowers’
The Twisted Yarn says
Happy to load your car up with violets whilst you’re here. 🙂

You’ve been busy! All this AND twins? Very impressive! I thought of you when I was in Florida last week and saw a huge palm tree that had been yarn-bombed!
The Twisted Yarn says
Oh wow, yarn-bombing a palm tree? I LIKE…

Loving Spring here too! Had the kitchen door open today to catch some sunshine, went for a walk this morning. So lovely! Didn’t see any lambs, just a squirrel.
The Twisted Yarn says
It’s lovely to have this spring weather, but I still feel as though we haven’t really had a winter. ‘Tis odd.

I have the same weird pinky flowers too that grow a misshapen hard squashed up fruit. I have always know it as a type if japonica or quince family. My flowers are a little redder perhaps than yours. Intrigued by your other makes. Are you doing a tutorial? I don’t think I will be. Too much else on. Your post made me laugh btw x
The Twisted Yarn says
You’re probably right about the japonica. I need to do a spot of Googling. And yes, I’m planning to do a tutorial for the competition. Sorry you won’t be, though. I bet you’d win…

Love your spring photos 🙂
That looks a lovely batch of veggie plants too.

Thank you. 🙂

Augh, so jealous that spring is springing where you are! We’re still in that horrible, grey, bleak, and still cold in-between time here. No more snow, but not warming up quite quick enough for things to start growing again!
The Twisted Yarn says
Hope you get some signs of spring soon. It’s such a lovely, hopeful time of year.

Thank you. MUM, ARE YOU READING THIS????!

Such pretty flowers. I love lambing season, watching them running and jumping around. Hahaha ****************ing afghan – you will be so proud when it’s finished!
The Twisted Yarn says
Thank you.

Nice to see your spring has been sprung 🙂 Ours is hiding under a snowbank somewhere 😉 ❤
The Twisted Yarn says
Wow, your snow really isn’t messing around, is it? Hope you have some beautiful spring weather soon.
knittingwithheart says
The forecast says more snow this week, then finally hovering above the freezing mark next week… sigh … Hope they’re not April foolin’ around! 😉 ❤

Your husband can come and cut my grass too if he likes???!! Of course, he’ll have to dig it out from under the snow first! Well at least that xxxx afghan will always be a talking point with visitors to your house! Weird pinky/red flowers are those of the Flowering Quince, Chaenomeles or something impossibly unpronounceable like that!
The Twisted Yarn says
Wow, your snow is pretty persistent. Wishing you lovely spring weather pronto.
