…Of course the advantage of finishing the ridiculous monster afghan is that almost any other knit/crochet project now seems quick and easy. I’m currently dabbling in floral hippos. But more on that very soon.
Meanwhile, despite the omission of any kind of meaningful winter (the flooding doesn’t count), spring has most definitely sprung in rural Oxfordshire. I just thought you might like some more blossom. This is blackthorn:-

And so is this:-

Beautiful?
Oh, and there were teasels:-

I know it doesn’t really fit with the housey theme of this blog, but there will be much floral crocheted hippodum very soon. I just couldn’t resist. Am itching to photograph it for you…
Love the flowers. Our morning snowstorm has moved on and the above freezing temperatures have made it disappear. The wind still howls. We road tripped 2 hours south and east of home today and the lower altitudes are showing wild cherry and redbud blossoms, the medium strip of the highway has forsythia blooming. We should be seeing it in another week or two, I hope. This has been a long, cold, wet winter in the mountains of Virginia.
Wow, it sounds as though you have deep winter and spring, all at once. I love reading about everyone’s weather and surroundings in the blogosphere, especially as we all seem to have had rather extreme winters in our different ways. Thank you for your comment.
I would sell my soul right now to see blooming trees outside my house (what is a blackthorn, anyway?) The photos really, really nice and nature may give you new ideas for crafts!
Lovely spring photos!
Floral hippos …. they sound such fun, I cant wait to see the photos I’m loving your spring pics 😀
Those blossoms are beautiful. Thanks for sharing happy birthday.
Lovely, cheering photos – also love the title of this post – can really sense the relief that the gorgeous afghan is finished! :- )
Lovely to see Spring has arrived somewhere.. although it is 14C here today. Of course I’m stuck indoors at work…
Ooh, hippos. I recently queued some crocheted hippos on Ravelry…I wonder if they’re the same. I can’t wait to see how your hippos turn out. 🙂
Thank you for sharing your spring photos. I’m so happy to say that it was SUNNY and 7C here today — the Wood Crafter and I sat outside on the patio in our wee micro climate IN SHORT SLEEVES — as in no winter coats– with a glass of beer (his) and a glass of wine (mine) and we were soooo happy! No flowers to share, but birds are returning along with the other critters that share our yard. Yesterday’s snowstorm has melted fabulously. Happy, happy at the moment. Thank you again. I will try a new blog when I can.
At LAST, you’re getting some half-decent weather. Enjoy the wine. Sorry I’ve taken ages to respond to this, but my blog decided hat you were now a complete bloggy stranger, and therefore worthy of deep suspicion. Oh, and I hope you do blog again. I’d like to see those yard critters.
They did a crochet-a-long at my LYS for that hippo pattern. They’re great! Everyone who seems them seems to fall in love. 😀
Blossom is my joint favourite spring thing along with daffodils. Looking forward to seeing your hippos! I made one a while back – the snout was hard!
Lovely photos! Can’t wait to see how those hippos turn out.
