Since the ridiculous, monstrous, ludicrous, in-what-crazy-state-of-inebriation-did-I-conceive-this-idea stained glass window afghan was finished, and also since the large crochet hippo settled in to life here in the old brewery, I’ve been picking at various projects in a desultory way. There’s a jumper* in the background that gets a bit of attention late at night. There’s yarn-bombing the outside of the house, very much a work in progress over the breakfast table. (Trust me, there will be photos soon.) There are sample pieces of stranded knitting for a tutorial I’ll be posting soon:-
And there’s a dress for my lovely cousin’s imminent baby arrival:-
Yeah, the baby will need to grow a tad to fit into this, unless she wants to get lost somewhere amongst the hem ruffles, but I figured that everyone gives you newborn stuff when you have a baby, so I’d look ahead a bit.
Can you tell that I don’t really like picking at little projects? I like a big, meaty, over-ambitious project to complain about. Ah well, I’m sure I’ll find something soon.
*translation for North American folks: sweater.
You are prolific with your projects. I remain impressed! I am about to hurl myself into a Bavarian crochet project for my winter evening activity courtesy of the lovely Dani at ‘TeddyandTotty’ ……… By ‘hurl’ I mean contemplate where to start and when to start……
Oooh, pictures please, all the way through. You’re so artistic and talented that this is going to be good…
Lovely jumper! I like to have both: small projects I can kick out quickly and feel accomplished over, and large projects to hum along in the background
Yes, it’s good to have both, I guess. I struggle not to just focus on one thing, though.
You are amazingly talented! I’m always in awe of your yarn work.
Also, I recently saw a news story on a local station about people yarn-bombing public places in south Florida. Of course, they had one old grump who thought it was a menace to society – but overall people thought it improved the beauty of the area (and I agreed!).
Oh yarn-bombing is so much fun! I am in awe of the woman who sneaks round our village at night covering every bus-stop with beautiful knitting.
Wow those are some super cute projects you have going on. Good luck.
Thank you.
Lovely, lovely work as always. I’m really looking forward to Easter and beyond when I’m hopefully going to have more time. Really want to get stuck into another project. Not sure what as yet … I fancy a bit of crazy-patchwork-make-it-up-as-you-go-along sewing, but first I really need to rediscover my cutting table. I know it’s there, somewhere under all the stuff. I think my next blog might feature the progress of my operation-tidy-up! In the meantime, I’ve been posting more photographs … 😉
Ouch , my fingers hurt seeing you crochet ceaselessly ;D I never believed when people talked of crochetholics getting inebriated 😀
Little or gigantic, your fingers work magic 🙂
Your strandwork is beautiful and I love the tot dress. Love your work.
Thank you.
Impressive two stranded work! And that you for the North American translation! I think I like the word “jumper” better. It sounds more fun.
Thank you. 🙂
I really like the dress, very nice colours, not too babyish or pink but still girly. Cute little girl’s dresses are always a good way for a quick and satisfying achievement in between larger projects
Thank you.
Who would’ve thought you’d actually miss the big afghan when it was done?! But you certainly aren’t wasting your time–both the projects you feature here look wonderful! I don’t anything about knitting but that leaf pattern is gorgeous!
The stranded knitting in the top photo is gorgeous.
Thank you. 🙂
Agree, the leaf pattern is gorgeous! & the little dress very pretty, you are very clever & creative
Thank you!
Stranded colourwork scares the bejeezus out of me! But then, so did knitting socks, tackling cables and learning lace.. and now not only can I do all three but I’ve done all three in the same project, so maybe one day I’ll be making stranded colourwork socks! In the mean time, enjoy some quick, easily finished projects and bask in the satisfaction of getting the wips out of the way!
Lovely Jumper!! and WOW that leaf pattern, I bow down to your Yoda knitting skills!
Ha ha! (That’s probably more praise than I deserve, though.)
