Gosh. π
I’m writing this with an enormous smile because the big news, as promised last night, is that I’ve won the Deramores Blog Awards! Wheeeee! Frankly I’m honoured, surprised, and excited in pretty much equal measure, and I haven’t stopped grinning since I learned the news. Hop over here to see the details if you’re interested. I won the knitting prize, and a beautiful vibrant blog called Betsy Makes won the crochet prize (though I also can’t help wishing there’d been a prize for the brilliant Eclectic Home and Life).
Soooooo, I’ve finally done what I should have done a long time ago and have made a Facebook page and a Twitter handle for thetwistedyarn. I’d be touched, honoured, and seriously smiley if you were kind enough to like my page and Twitter-follow me (and I’m happy to follow you back because I love all the other bloggers on here, although I’m still figuring out how Twitter works). And if you told your friends, your acquaintances, and your family about these pages, I’d be even more honoured.

Twitter is a tad confusing, so it may be a few days before I’m fully active on there. Please don’t be offended if I commit some ghastly tweeting faux pas – it’s cluelessness rather than intentional rudeness.
And yesterday’s yarn-bombing of our house Β has been getting a fair few fun comments from people we know, too. Here, gratuitously, is another picture:-
Happy knitting/crocheting, people. π

Congratulations
The Twisted Yarn says
Thank you, m’dear. π
Allison says
Congratulations! Twitter had a bit of a learning curve for me, too…I am terrible at keeping my writing short and sweet!
The Twisted Yarn says
Agreed – 140 characters?! I’ve barely got into my stride by then! But thank you.
Heather says
Congratulations! Wow, what a cool award. There must have been lots of votes and entries!
The Twisted Yarn says
Thank you. π π π

Brilliant news, congratulations! xx
The Twisted Yarn says
Surprising news. And thank you. π
Henrietta Handy says
Congratulatons! I love reading your blog. Having knitters like you and The Yarn Harlot share their techniques and lives truly gives knitting that “community” feeling.
The Twisted Yarn says
Aww, thank you. I think there’s a lovely craft-bloggy community around. Knitters and crocheters seem like mostly nice people. (Except me: I’m horrid. π )
pennylibrarian says
Many congratulations!
The Twisted Yarn says
And many thank yous. π

The Twisted Yarn says
Yeah, I can hardly walk down the street now, for being mobbed! π (But thank you.)

Well done, you deserve it.
The Twisted Yarn says
Thank you!

Well done! I use twitter – well, I should say I have a twitter account – it sends a message to all nine of my followers when I publish a blog post π
I don’t really see the point of it and nowadays I never go into my account as I discovered it is a complete waste of my good energy.
Facebook however is great fun!!
The Twisted Yarn says
I agree. And I fear there’s all sorts of Twitter etiquette that it’s probably far too easy to violate. But you know where you are with Facebook. Is there a contentedcrafter FB page? (Have I been stupid and missed it?)
thecontentedcrafter says
Um – er – yes π It is on the right hand side of the post page π [Being now the over extended owner of one puppy I do understand how mothering a toddler twinnage may just keep you from the finer details of life]
If the link doesn’t work, as it often doesn’t – just put the contented crafter into your fb search.
The Twisted Yarn says
Done! But could only ‘like’ you with my real name I think.
thegrangerange.wordpress.com says
Congratulation on you super win, very well deserved I say. Not on twitter but will check out facebook with you.
The Twisted Yarn says
Thank you! You’re very kind. π

CONGRATULATIONS! If I could stuff a brass band playing celebratory um-pa music in this comment box I would π (but I can’t so you’ll just have to imagine one!) I love your blog and I’m thrilled to see the excellent work you do being recognised! π π π π π
The Twisted Yarn says
Ha ha! I’m sooo disappointed that a real brass band didn’t appear! But thank you for the musical thought, anyway.
caityrosey says
Congrats. Well deserved.
The Twisted Yarn says
Thank you. (Not sure I agree about the deserved bit, but thanks.)

Congratulations! Having just discovered your blog, I’m looking forward to seeing future doings. Loved your yarn bombed house : )
The Twisted Yarn says
And your blog is lovely. (I’m a follower.) Thank you for your kind words.
mollieandclaire says
Congratulations! What a lovely thing to win. I love twitter (Mollie has an account with 2600 followers… I know, mildly embarrassing), and have made some really good friends through it – you’ll get used to it! And the yarn bombing *is* brilliant!
The Twisted Yarn says
Thank you! And wow to Mollie’s account! What’s her username? May I follow please?
mollieandclaire says
Of course. It’s @mollie_the_lab π
The Twisted Yarn says
Followed! She is rather gorgeous.
KerryCan says
Oh! This is wonderful for you! Enjoy the warm glow!
The Twisted Yarn says
Thank you. I think the warm glow may be champagne-related. Oops.

Well done – and even more well done for managing to create a Facebook page that people can like – I still haven’t got my head around that one.
Have liked your page and following you on Twitter. π
The Twisted Yarn says
Thank you! This technological malarkey is a tad confusing. Can’t we all pull out pencils and paper and WRITE to each other?!
The Snail of Happiness says
Well done you! Despite being a Deramores customer, this one somehow passed me by! I hope you got lots of lovely yarn as a prize!!
The Twisted Yarn says
Thank you. I assume the prize will be an annual thing now, so get ready for next year…
The Snail of Happiness says
Hope you’re getting lots of blog traffic as a result…. you deserve it!
sindhoooo says
Wow! Congratulations! Great achievement! My best wishes for the years ahead… π Rainbow railing is so fantastic!
Following your FB page and following you on twitter too:)

Thank you. You’re always so kind (more so than I deserve).

You are a worthy winner. I have spent a delicious morning reading your blog whilst waiting for my bread dough to rise. Well OK, I could have found a million other things to do but your blog just pulled me in, (that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.) Look forward to receiving the next instalment and the one after that and the one after…..
The Twisted Yarn says
Thank you. You’re vastly more charitable than I deserve but I’m grateful nonetheless. I hope your bread was delicious?
Magpiemakingdo says
Congrats!!!
marymint says
Well done .The best WINNER by a mile. I love your blog but I can never understand yarn bombing . Wouldn’t it be better to give items to a worthy cause after all the beautiful knitting and time taken?
The Twisted Yarn says
Marymint, thank you. And yes, I see your point. BUT I also think itβs important to surround ourselves with beauty thatβll make others smile. I really do think that surroundings are important. For the record β I hope this doesnβt sound too defensive β I have a job that involves trying to help seriously struggling people, and I do give a lot to charities and causes that I passionately believe in, and I think I can give more by donating money to β say β Oxfam than by knitting for them. For my hobby I like to do frivolous things. Frivolous, but also I hope making someone smile. Our surroundings do matter. Iβm conscious that I live in a pretty village and work in a deeply un-beautiful suburb. Maybe I should be yarn-bombing there, to bring a few smiles to struggling people.

You were the outright winner, your blog shines, and I mean it. your writing style seems natural, humourus and enlightning. I can say with my hand on heart that I am so happy to have met you both on the blogsphere and in the piper group. You ARE an inspiration. Thank you too for the shout out π
The Twisted Yarn says
Oh, now you’re going to see a grown woman cry! But thank you. I meant what I said, though: you would have been a worthy winner. I think the crochet category was much tougher due to more entries. And having met in the blogosphere and Piper, would you like to meet in person? I’m sorry I’ve been rubbish about responding to Facebook PMs. Won’t bore you with the shameful excuses for my disorganisation.

WAAAAHHHOOOOO!!!!!! I am so excited for you!! Congratulations!
