Hello, yarn-loving friends. The biggest joy of blogging is to be amongst like-minded knitting and crocheting souls. You’re all lovely. 🙂
The knitted picture of a mandala is coming along surprisingly fast. Twenty thousand stitches down, about forty thousand to go. Want to see? This photo doesn’t do it justice. The blighter is knitted in the round, so you’re only seeing just under half its width, here. And I’ve only done the bottom portion, so it’s going to get a LOT bigger. So, what you’re seeing is just skimming the bottom bit of a giant circle, OK? Here she is:-

Note the reel of gold thread? I bought that this morning to embroider around the green. A beautiful combination, no?
The green is a rich, gorgeous Fyberspates. A million shades of green within one skein. The cream is a uniform string-like yarn that’s so rough it chafes my knitting fingers. But it’s a perfect plain parchment-like background to the luscious green. I don’t so much knit this soft beautiful green, as pour it onto my work. It’s like a brand new felt pen, working dark but variegated colour onto the page. It’s like ink. It’s like the thousand shades of green in a forest. It’s like perfection. Can you tell that I’m a Fyberspates convert?
The question is, how and where exactly should I embroider the gold?
Wow, that’s gorgeous! I am loving the green and the gold is a great idea!
Thank you!
Beautiful!
Thank you, muchly!
Zowie! That’s sure beautiful! And inspiring as well!
Thank you!
Zowie! You sure do work fast – I’m still trying to get my giveaway item finished and into the post! Puppy caring sure does take up a lot of time………. Being me I’d splatter that gold thread far too often for most folks taste 🙂 I do like me a bit of bling!! I imagine it will look fab wherever you decide to put it! How helpful am I? 🙂
Ahhhh, but a puppy is much cuter than knitting. 🙂
Fabulous! ☆
Thank you!
This is going to be amazing. What will you do with it when finished? I would be conservative with the hold, think it matches and compliments well, but little is more I think.
Ahhh, cannot edit, should read GOLD not hold!
Yes, I think you’re right. I don’t want it to end up looking bling! If it looks good when finished, I’ll stretch it over a canvas and mount it on the living room wall.
This is just stunning!!!! Wonderful work
Thank you!! 🙂
Oh my goodness, that is gorgeous. What talent.
(Blushes) Thank you! 🙂
That is crisp and gorgeous. I can’t wait to see the final product. I agree with Electrichomelife, though. A little smattering of gold will go a long way. Maybe using it to accent the concentric circles?
Yes, that might be the solution. Hmmm….. am off to experiment…..
Just WOW.
Thank you. 🙂
Absolutely beautiful. Also that green does look like forest green to me. It makes me think of pines. Also the gold will looks lovely with it.

Thank you. Yes there’s something natural and leafy about this rich and subtly varying green.
I’d knit the gold in with the green ……..
Oh poo! Why didn’t I think of that?! Can I face starting again?…….
I don’t think you’d have to – weave it in until you get it to where you are – is that even possible? I speak like I would know how to do this – NOT.
Hey I have scissors like that! We really are kindred spirits!
Yup! I love them, which is why they keep sneaking in to all my photos.
Simply stunning!!!!Can’t wait to see it finished!!!
Thank you!
This is really impressive, cannot wait to see the final thing! 🙂 And I really want those scissors 🙂
Thank you. As for the scissors, *whispers*, they were about three quid from Amazon.
A piece of art!
Thank you!
At first glance I thought it was a little handbag! You’ve inspired me.
You knit like a dream, I love your work. Well done! 🙂
I love the green, and the gold is a great idea. I can imagine hints of it here and there which will just lift the green a bit. Rather like sunlight through the leaves of the trees in the forest. 🙂
Another epic project! I completely agree about that yarn–it is the most gorgeous mix–yummy. And I love jackallcraft’s point about the gold as sunlight in the leaves!
Looking pretty amazing so far. Can’t wait to see it when the gold has been added – knit faster please!! ;-D X
Really gorgeous.
Wow that is beautiful. Love the colors too.
It’s looking lovely already. I love the idea of a knitted mandala. The gold will make a splendid accent too 🙂
used to use the gold a lot in embroidery and cross stitch one thing to remember- if it gets a knot in it you have to cut it out, short threads is the way forward
I can’t wrap my head around your ability to knit so beautifully! Knitting more than a dishcloth is well beyond my skillset — and following such an intricate pattern?? Totally incapable. I do admire your talent and am happy that you share it on your blog. I have no suggestions on the gold embroidery, but am certain that it will look gorgeous wherever you decide to include it.
