On Sunday, this blog quietly turned three, which gives me an OK-ish excuse to wheel out pictures of the cake that the Stoic Spouse secretly had commissioned ahead of this site’s first blogiversary, in 2014. (Way back in the mists of time, he also proposed via a cake. Are you spotting a theme in this man’s primary means of communication? If he ever decides to ditch me, it’ll probably be via an ‘I want a divorce’ cake.)
The blogiversary cake was large, and rather delicious. I wish I could have given you each a slice because your kindness, generosity of spirit, and humour, have made this blog. Also, it was damn fine cake.
Seriously though, thank you. Whether you’re a loyal long-termer, or whether you only came across The Twisted Yarn at 3am this morning because you’d already read the rest of the internet and this was the only thing that remained, I really do appreciate your visits, and your comments.
Anyway, I was thinking about how quite a few of you are bloggers yourselves, whilst others are on the look-out for interesting yarn-related stuff to read. So I thought, why don’t we all have a little party right here on this page? If you’re a blogger, feel free to shout out loud about what you do via a comment at the end of this post. If you’re a reader and you know of a blog or two that the rest of us should definitely be reading, please tell us why!
Meanwhile, this year’s Stylecraft Blog Tour has just kicked off, promoting lovely new shades in chunky and aran ‘Special’ yarn. Emma Varnam has shared her blanket, and Jane Crowfoot has taught us about colour. Still to come, are Keep Calm And Crochet On, Sue Pinner, Annaboo’s House, Hand Knitted Things, Cherry Heart, The Patchwork Heart, Crafternoon Treats, Stylecraft’s own blog, and Le Monde de Sucrette. Oh, and I’m in there too, on 31st October to be precise. Hurrah!
So let’s hear about your blogs! ↓Comments!↓
Massive congratulations to you on your third blogversary. Combining yarn and cake means your hubby is definitely a keeper! ?
I love to read your blog and many others. I love that each blog is so very unique in its own right. I too blog at ‘ayarnyrobin.wordpress.com’, my own hooky little space of the web that is a happy space x
Thank you for the opportunity. Here’s what my blog is about.
I call myself ‘Rainbow Junkie’ because the things I make are normally very colourful and often include rainbow sequences.
Lots of crochet a bit of knitting. Photography is in there too – both things I have made and stories of my outings. (Lately a photo a week as well!)
I like to share patterns for my better ideas and I aim at things that are easy but look good. You may also find recipes and other crafts from time to time.
Happy blogiversary! May you have many more, with accompanying awesome cakes.
Hello there and happy blogiversary! I love reading the Twisted Yarn! Here’s to another year!
You can find my blog at dramaticlyric.wordpress.com. I write mostly about knitting, with a little bit of everything else thrown in for good measure.
Happy 3rd Blogiversery! I really enjoy your blog and appreciate it’s yarniness and your sense of humour. I’m loving the cake your husband had made for you and I’ll be sure to drop subtle hints now with my husband (showing him the photo and making oooo noises should work!) My blog is keepcalmandcrochetonuk.wordpress.com/ and I’m extremely excited to be taking part in the Stylecraft blog tour with you and other bloggers this year!
Happy Blogiversary – that cake looks awesome! If it tastes half as good as it looks, it’ll be delicious. 🙂
My ‘storyhound’ Millie the Literary Lurcher blogs at https://annabellefranklinauthor.wordpress.com/ about her adventures in this world and Storyland (and occasionally lets me plug my children’s books!)
Congratulations. Keep up the good work. Can you teach me how to knit socks in the round? Janice X
Yes! Come round here one day. Also, I have the knitting cat book for you.
Thank you. X
Congratulations on 3 years. I thoroughly enjoy your sense of humor. Keep bloggin’ on for many more!
Congratulations on you third blogiversary. I’m a reader, and a longtime lurker. When I found your blog from last years Stylecraft tour, I went back to the beginning and read through in sequence. Love ’em!
Another blog I read is Loobylu. It’s not about knitting or crocheting but she does “make stuff”. Written by Claire Robertson, an Australian living in Canada. It’s a great blog with good links. Claire has recently taken to emailing out a newsletter called The Small Batch List. Have a look here http://us6.campaign-archive2.com/?u=5d52da5b0cba796b1bdd8cea6&id=768f95fd94&e=64d390fd92
Great cake!
My blog is about crochet and countrylife. And a bit of knitting nowadays … 🙂
Turning three is a big milestone Ms T. Next year you will be eligible for training wheels. Can’t wait to see where you trundle to next. I have been sniffing around the peripherals of The Twisted Yarn for a while now and can honestly say that this little space is the perfect way to settle down with a mug of tea, your home hooked slipper boots and while away a few moments of the day in a most wholesome manner. Britain is still great. You just have to find delightfully eccentric little enclaves of it scattered around the world and this, is a perfect example. Happy birthday Ms T and here’s to many, many more.
Congratulations! I have been following you for most of your 3 year journey. I began blogging in December 2011 as a means to share knitting patterns of my design, recipes created from the organic produce that I grow on our little farm, and it has morphed into sharing my life as a spinner, soap maker, knitter, chicken raiser, and grandmom. Keep up the good work and drop by my blog when you can. I would love to have more followers that don’t have to rely on Facebook to find me.
Massive congratulations on the 3 year anniversary! I have a video podcast on Youtube where I talk about knitting, spinning, crochet and the like! I’m not very good at it but I do enjoy doing it!

Congratulations on your blogiversary! I don’t have a blog but I read many and yours is one of my favourites. I love seeing what you knit and reading your funny stories. I also have two young children, work on the front line in the public sector, and knit, so I can relate to much of what you write. The only thing I don’t do, is run! Please keep blogging for at least another 3 years….
Thanks for your fab blog and happy anniversary! I blog about patchwork with a little knitting and crochet thrown in now and then, at pomegranateandchintz.wordpress.com
I have had my own blog for 8 years (I had to look it up) and my readership is pretty small but I love blogging and don’t want to stop! Nicolaknits.com started out mainly about knitting and life, and these days is mostly about crochet and life.
Congrats on three years of blogging – you have a great ‘voice’ with a lot of humour and, of course, yarn.
Thanks for the opportunity to mention my blog 😉
I chronicle my feats and mistakes and overly-ambitious endeavors in the sock-knitting world as I work through Anne Budd’s Sock Knitting Master Class book when I probably should be studying. All this is accomplished as many of you slumber and some of you toil on Thursday night/Friday morning(most weeks). It all happens at Knitting Journeys on WordPress.
I also read your blog regularly, Yarn, Books and Roses by Midnight Knitter, and My Tangled Yarn who has the adorable Jelly Bean to knit for. Enjoy your blogs ladies and gentlemen; I certainly have a few more to look up. Thanks for hosting this party;-). And the Stoic Spouse made a beautiful cake.
Happy third blogiversary! It’s always lovely to see a post from you in my reader.
I have a blog about all sorts of old-fashioned fun, from knitting and sewing, to roadtrips and op shopping (thrifting). It’s all happening at Katie Writes Stuff.
Happy Blogversary. 1 of my favorite blogs is
https://cricketswooldiary.wordpress.com/
What about those of us who only read this blog in the hope that you will finally reveal your humongeous housey gardeney project ? 😉 (Ok, I admit it, your other posts can be kind of amusing too, especially when you get lost/ fall in a puddle/ have a knit off with a rival group in the pub etc). My own posts at http://www.prolificprojectstarter.wordpress.com can only hope to be a fraction as amusing. And are more sewing based (I do knit but oh so painfully slowly)
Happy Blogiversary <3 and wishing you many, many more! 🙂 ? Jackie@KWH
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday dear Twisted
Happy Birthday tooooooo you
Love your sense of humour and always get a lift when I see a new post pop up. Take care and many happy returns xox
That is some cake! How lovely of your husband to commission such a cake! I am a relatively new reader of your blog, but it is surely becoming one of my top faves.
I blog at Wooliefeatures: my knitting, baking, travelling blog. I post every two weeks about my knitting progress, patterns and yarns, yarn shops I’ve come across during my travels and my favourite recipes. It’s becoming a fun way to interact more with the community at large.
Totally agree on the fun of ‘meeting’ (and even really meeting) people through blogging. 🙂
Happy Anniversary. That cake is amazing! I’ve been following your blog for some time now and fell in love with the exploits of the toddlers! And your garden furniture project thingy. Just what is it? Anyway I have been blogging for four years. I have made some lovely blog friends, received encouragement and advice along the way. The strap line on my blog is life and thyme. I blog about knitting, crochet, sewing, cross stitch, embroidery, a photo challenge oh and life! Now I am off on a blog hop starting from here.
Thank you, as always, for the generous words in your comment. (And if you promise not to tell anyone: the crochet house/garden thingy is going to cover a very large chair.)
Happy Anniversary, and Kudos to the hubby for commissioning such an amazing cake! I found your blog this past year, and enjoy your sense of humor…I’ve cried more than once, Imlaughed so hard! My little blog chronically my adventures in needle arts, with a bit of garden and food preservation thrown in every so often. Livinginrapidcity.wordpress.com. Is where you’ll find me.
Congrats again!
I adore this blog, but fail to see how a stoic spose can make a cake like that. Superdelicatecreativeinventivefunny I’d say. And probably very caloryrich.
My own blog is “wakeing up-blog” – me being the wakingupper – and occasionally I include bits from my two books or a sillypoem or two. You are very welcome, please be nice to me.
As always, thank you for your kindness. (He commissioned the cake rather than making it himself.)
hm, maybe a link would work better:

Happy blogiversary, Twisted! I enjoy your funny, inspiring writing and cool projects a lot. My blog is about crocheting with fabric yarn, from the day I first discovered it till now, as I near the zillionth basket mark. BTW your blog is also one of my favorite places to discover new blogs – you have some talented friends and followers 🙂 I am at https://thebasketfairy.com/
Congratulations! Happy blogiversary! I have been enjoying your posts for about the last year, I think, and you have been a great inspiration to me. I am also a blogger. I write about knitting and crochet (mostly) and living in rural Oregon, USA. You can read my ramblings at http://www.littlewoollythings.com
Many congratulations on your 3rd blogiversary and here’s to many more. I’ve been a reader since your blog won “best knitting blog” and caught up on those I’d missed. Always enjoy reading your posts, thank you for entertaining us with your (mostly) knitterly exploits.
And thank you for such kind words. You’ve been around longer than most. 🙂
Happy Blogiversary. I am at https://silkannthreades.wordpress.com/ and although my blog title contains silk and threads, I can’t knit or sew. 🙁 I simply stand and admire others’ creativity.
Happy blog birthday! I’ve only just found your blog but wish I had found it long ago, I will certainly be following from now on. I’m very new to blogging and am not able to blog as often as I’d like but my blog (which is generally about my crafty makes) can be found at http://www.aboxofallsorts.com

Wow! What a cake! Happy blogiversary!
Thank you!
