Quick reminder, I'm keeping a garden photo-diary @the.twisted.garden. Feel free to come and see blooms, bugs, and... After work (for me and the Stoic Spouse) and a shameful amount of screen-time (the twinnage), I took both boys up to the Ridgeway (truly ancient trail that passes nearby here) so they could run around, or rather gallop along pretending to be horses. No yarn in this picture, because I was feeling so guilty about neglecting the boys all day that I FORGOT TO BRING MY KNITTING when we left the house!

So, a thing happened. Yesterday, I found this small metal disk whilst digging the garden. Clearly old, a little strange. Thanks to a contact from a helpful friend, I emailed the Finds Officer at our local archaeology service. Didn't expect a speedy response, but I guess a lot of his usual work is on hold. Here's what he said: My first impression is that you have a Medieval to Post Medieval (AD 1200 - 1800) lead token. The date range on these is huge because we get lots of them and they vary a huge amount in form! They can be used for lots of different purposes, as gaming counters, weights, trade tokens and more.

What I didn't know was that my friend Jo has been secretly making an absolutely perfect model of Robyn-the-robin. Look what appeared on my doorstep yesterday! ❤️ I can only imagine how many hours must have gone in to all that embroidery. (Jo did admit that she has calluses on her hands as a result!)
