This old brewery that we live in is cold, properly cold. One winter we had ice on the inside of the window panes, something I half-remembered happening in childhood but had thought I must have imagined until it happened again here, in our bedroom, two years ago.
Times like this, I have to stop knitting/crocheting housey stuff and make warm clothes for the twinnage. Actually it’s weirdly mild here in the UK here at the moment, but it still manages to be chilly in the house, and I do live in hope of some snow landing this winter.
So I’ve made jumpers for the boys:-

The pattern, for those on Ravelry, is Jamie, by Katy Farrell. T’was a well-written, easy pattern. It’s quite a simple design, that I chose in order to show off the variegation in the yarn. The yarn is Adriafil Knitcol, one of those ugly-duckling-to-beautiful-swan yarns I’ve blogged about before.
Here’s a shot of the moss stitch collar:-

And the contrasting yarns used for the two garments:-

That was fun, but now I want to play with yarn for housey projects again. 🙂
Lovely work as ever! The buttons finish them off so well too! I’ll be posting some gubbins on here in the next couple of days, probably featuring one of those rare things – a yarn that (I think, at least) looks great in both ball and knitted form! Happy knitting!
Thank you again! Looking forward to seeing your next post…. and the yarn. I’ll keep an eye out for it in my reader. I love your blog!
Oh thanks for that – As you’ll see, I’m quite new to this whole blogging malarky, but am finding it extremely satisfying! Lovely to think that others out there are seeing it too!
So precious- I’ll have to look up the pattern on ravelry! Also love the wooden buttons.
Thank you! It’s very satisfying knitting clothes for the children.
Super cute
Thank you!
You live in an old brewery? That. Is. So. Cool.
Cold, as much as cool. 😉 But yeah, it’s fun.
You must have had to do some extensive remodeling.
The twinnage will be looking mighty fine 🙂
….if they agree to wear them! But thank you.
Wow! I’ve just finished a tour of your blog and it is awesome! Your work is brilliant.
Thank you, both for visiting and for your lovely comment.
Very beautiful!!!
Thank you.
Your jumpers are absolutely fabulous. Color work is one thing I have yet to try, even after over 30 years of knitting. Very impressive.
Thank you. You’re very kind. But the colour in these is all down to variegation in the yarn – I can’t take any credit.
Right! Now I see that in the photos. I love the self striping yarns but never used one quite as colorful as yours. I’m definitely going to try that soon.
Gorgeous! I can’t imagine knitting for twins – I’m bad enough at finishing off a pair of socks, let alone 2 jumpers! They are really lovely, and that yarn is gorgeous!
Thank you. I think doing the second sock is just as difficult as doing the second jumper, though. At least I could make the second jumper a different colour.
I love the colours, i think the lighter one is my favourite though.
Thank you. And I think I agree with you about the lighter one.
They are so great and show of the yarn a treat. Your tension in the knitting is superb, so neat and even, wish I could achieve that1 As always a pleasure to read and see your visual goodies x
Thank you!
Beautiful jumpers, hope the boys agree to wear them. Love the yarn, I’ve only used self striping for socks but i really like how these came out. Love your knitted fern cushion too, it’s great in both colour ways. Love the thought of living in an old brewery but hubby would definitely prefer it if there was still some beer coming from it! We get ice on the inside of our double glazed windows sometimes too, but then again, it is Michigan, it is Winter, we do have about 2ft of snow right now and it is physically -23C outside! Think it’s about -36C with wind chill but this is a bit unusual even for us!
Thank you! Wow, 2ft of snow? I can’t help being a little envious. It’s grey and rainy here at the moment.
The knitted jumpers look fabulous!
Thank you – as do your beautiful socks.
These are lovely. Very cheerful!
Thanks. I love the socks you recently posted.
Those jumpers are absolutely gorgeous. I haven’t knitted in years, but just looking at your blog has made me think that perhaps it’s time to try again…
Thank you. And I definitely think you should try again!
They are beautiful. And I would like one for myself! (Not hinting! Just thinking, hmmm… can I figure out an enlargement!) And wonderful yarn.
It must be possible, I’m sure. Someone wiser than me could advise you on how…
They are gorgeous. And the yarn looks beautiful too. Funnily enough I have actually used the same for two jumpers for my set of “behaving like twins” (they are 4 and 2 though).
It is a bit itchier than I would have expected from merino wool though, isn’t it.
Thank you. Yes it’s not quite as soft as you might expect for merino, but my two don’t seem to mind. I hope your two wear theirs lots, and bet they get compliments when they do.
