Woe, 'tis a dark day, here at the 'Yarn. A heinous crime has been committed. I've been working on the crochet house-bag (doing the boring stuff; weaving in dozens of ends - an ideal job for when you've got a stinking head-cold.) I have to say, it's going extremely well and I'm rather excited about the finished product. It's gone from this:- ...to a proper 3-d house-bag with shoulder strap, but I'm hanging back from showing you until I can ta-da it properly. Thank you to commenters who Continue Reading
Crochet In The Spring
And so I was wandering around our old village with the Toddler Twinnage, in the warm almost-spring sunshine. (There is a crochet point to this post, honest. I'm working up to it.) We noticed many things: the ancient thatched walls... ...and the early spring flowers, pretty much all of which are either yellow or purple, a combination that maintains my belief in nature as genius designer. I mean, look at the colour wheel: yellow is pretty much opposite purple, so we're onto a winner in Continue Reading
In Which The Toddler Twinnage Is Warehoused And The Knitting Is Knitted
I'm getting a bit shameless about knitting/crocheting anywhere and everywhere (except at work: my patients would be disconcerted to find their psychologist muttering over stitch-counts as they entered the consulting room. Unless they're knitters, of course.) Oh, and I'd best gloss over my recent attempt to knit secretly under the table at the pub whilst having a rare lunch date with the Stoic Spouse. I know he reads this blog, and I'm not sure his disapproval of that incident has worn off yet. Continue Reading
Review: Rico glow-in-the-dark yarn
Glow-in-the-dark yarn sounds like a rather wonderful concept, no? When I heard this thing existed, I had a, 'Gah, WHY didn't I think of that?' moment. This happens a lot - the universe is clearly some way ahead of me. Anyway, I know TheTwistedYarn is primarily a stuff-for-the-home blog, but when I heard about this brand new yarn, I had to take a minor swerve into garment-knitting, because what toddler-about-town doesn't need a glow-in-the-dark knitted hat? Pedantically, I should point out Continue Reading
Mostly Outdoors
This summer, the toddler twinnage and I are spending lots of happy time (and a fair ol' portion of grumpy grizzly Mummy-I-Want-To-Go-Home-NOWWWWWW time) outdoors. Much of this hasn't been compatible with knitting/crochet, but the toddler twinnage seem to be under the impression that I should actively parent them. So we've been to say hello to the rescue donkeys (where we met a pig who, rather confusingly, kept saying 'woof')... ...and I knitted my way to a music Continue Reading
