I’m knitting and crocheting super-fast, I promise. Finished objects to be provided for your delectation/scorn (delete as appropriate) very soon. I’m on to the penultimate colour of the giant rainbow stained glass window afghan. Nearly, so nearly…
But in the meantime, I have to share something with you. If you (a) knit, and (b) have Facebook, then I guarantee that roughly eleventy thousand of your closest friends will have posted links to knitted penguin jumpers on your timeline in the last few days. All in a worthy cause, I know. So I won’t share a link that you’ve doubtless already seen. But I must, just must, post THIS, as the last word in hardcore penguin fashion:-
And how wonderful are these?! I especially love the old-style Penguin Books logo, though I guess the penguins themselves prefer the fishy one. Knitting genius. Which one is your favourite?
And yes, I do realize that these aren’t real penguins.

Yarn-bombed penguins–now I’ve seen it all! 🙂
The Twisted Yarn says
Nah. Somebody will be along to think of something crazier in a minute.
waywardleaf says
I love ALL of those jumpers. So, so cute.
The Twisted Yarn says
Me too. Somebody’s done an amazing job.
Katie Clark says
So cute. Made me smile. I think the Super-Penguin one is my favourite! 🙂
The Twisted Yarn says
Yup, that’s definitely the one I’d choose too.

sososo cute! there have been mumblings of a penguin jumper knitting party amongst my fellow knitter friends because…how can you not?
The Twisted Yarn says
Oh wow. Your knitter friends are deeply cool. Please post photos when you’re done…
Missy's Crafty Mess says
Those are super cute.
The Twisted Yarn says
Yup!

I’m obviously out of that loop – not a penguin to be seen on any of my facebook pages – yarn bombed, real, faux or otherwise…….. very sad!
The Twisted Yarn says
Maybe everyone you know is assuming that everyone else has already sent it to you.

The Penguin Books penguin sweater makes me so happy!
The Twisted Yarn says
Me too. Design genius.

I’ve had the penguin link pop up a few times on Facebook, but as I have a deep-rooted mistrust of penguins, I won’t be knitting for them! (I do love the Penguin Books one – maybe I could do it toddler size…?)
The Twisted Yarn says
But… but…. penguins are so cute! I’m sure someone more skilled than I am could convert the Penguin Books one to a toddler jumper. And I’m sure the result would look gorgeous.
Chris @ makeandwear says
I’ve been seeing a lot of penguin jumper pictures popping up on blogs alright. But it seems to be an old request (from a few years back) that has gone viral again lately!!

I love the Penguin Books sweater! It’s too cute.
Leah says
Hahaha! Oh my gosh..I have had so many people try to penguin me on FB!!
The Twisted Yarn says
Yup, well here are some more!

My favourite? The rainbow one. Genius!
The Twisted Yarn says
Yes, s/he is rather splendidly lovely.
dotstestsiteDot says
The Penguin Books & the rainbow my favourites, & i almost thought they were real penguins!!
pernickitywitch says
Not sure about knitting for Penguins (I’ve heard it’s soooo last week!) but I’m sorely tempted to knit a Penguin (books) jumper for a Human!
The Twisted Yarn says
It would look rather lovely. I’ve just checked on Ravelry and nobody has posted a pattern, although there’s a Penguin Books design pair of mittens, and an e-reader cover. Clearly a gap in the market, design-wise.
pernickitywitch says
Swatches at the ready 🙂 Aaaaaand they’re off!
Tracey says
Lol, yep, I’ve been sent that link by at least two of my friends recently! Loving those fashionable penguins x
The Twisted Yarn says
Yes, they’re gorgeous, aren’t they?
