So I was contacted by Adagio Teas, who sell all sorts of luscious tea-based loveliness in various parts of the world, plus the equipment with which to make it.
“Help!” they said. “Quickly, please!”
I was puzzled. “Huh? I’m a knitting/crochet blogger – I’m not sure how I can help you…”
“But it’s an emergency!” they insisted. “The weather has turned freezing, and…”
“Yeah, tell me about it: you should try living in this house.” (Here, for the record, is what this house looks like at the moment:-)
“…and people’s tea is getting cold before they can even finish drinking it. It’s a catastrophe! And with Christmas coming, folk need a nice, warming brew.”
“That does sound unfortunate, but I’m still not sure how I can help. I might have a spare kettle in the cellar that I can give you, although since the cellar flooded, it might be a bit…”
“Tea cosies! We need lots and lots of woolly tea cosies, to keep people’s teapots warm! And we need them right now! Please, can you help?”
“Ah. Well I guess I could do a simple little…”
“And they must be Christmassy ones, to cheer up people who’ve experienced the trauma of tepid tea. People are suffering out there.”
“Look, it’s nice of you to ask and I feel people’s pain, I really do, but I’m not sure I can do much…”
“How about we send you some tea, as an incentive?”
“I still don’t think I…”
“Green tea.”
“Oh?”
“Jasmine green tea pearls with some nice teapots to make it in. And matching teacups. And…”
“Really?”
“Really.”
“Really?”
“Yes.”
“I’ll get my yarn.”
Shortly afterwards, this splendid lot arrived:-
So I rushed off to start work. Also, I drank plenty of delicious tea. In the interests of yarny fairness, I designed one crocheted tea cosy and one knitted tea cosy. Here they are! And now I’m writing up the patterns for you. (The yarn is Stylecraft Special DK.)
They’re designed to fit the two-cup pots sold by Adagio, but they’d fit other standard two-cup pots, too.
Time was short, so I worked fast, even when there was a snow-induced power cut:-

I hope you like them. Do you want the patterns? OK, I’ll write them up for the next blog post.
Meanwhile, let’s have a GREAT BIG TEA GIVEAWAY, courtesy of the ridiculously over-generous people at Adagio Teas. How would you like to win a huge tea-related package of yumminess? In their extreme generosity, Adagio are offering one very lucky reader of this blog their PersonaliTEA teapot (in a colour of the winner’s choice), with two matching cups, AND their festive Stocking Stuffer Set, AND five different loose tea sampler sets!!!!! Wa-hey! Put the kettle on, people! That’s a lot of tea.
Usual Twisted competition procedures apply. To enter, leave a comment at the end of this post. To gain a sneaky extra entry, head on over to the The Twisted Yarn Facebook page, leave a comment under the post about this contest and ‘like’ the page (the overall Facebook page, not the post). And – new idea here – to gain an even sneakier extra, extra, entry, pop over to @thetwistedyarn on Instagram, become a follower, and leave a comment under the post about this competition.
The contest is open from RIGHT NOW until midday (UK-time) on Sunday 17th December 2017. The winner will be selected using a random number generator. If efforts to contact them have been unsuccessful after a week, an alternative winner will be randomly selected.
Please note that the competition is open to folk based in UK, the rest of Europe, and North America. I’m really sorry that it’s not open elsewhere – this is due to laws about importing foodstuffs, rather than any wish to exclude folk.
Right, I’m off to finish writing up those tea cosy patterns for you. 🙂
No, this is NOT a sponsored post. And those links are NOT affiliate links. Adagio did send me lots of free tea, but I then remembered that I was already one of their paying customers because I bought one of their brilliant IngenuiTEA teapots a while ago.

I love the crocheted tea cosy. I haven’t crocheted for years. I wonder if I can remember how!
What a super competition. I’d love to win and try some different brews. You’re right about it being freezing though. Tea certainly needed!
Love the tea cosies especially the crochet one. Where is my hook!! They would certainly look better than wrapping a tea towel around my sad little pot ! X
You can’t beat a good cup of tea and a little crochet to beat the growing panic at this time of year, a crochet cosy might be just what I need to keep the tea warm as it always goes cold as I get engrossed!
Mmmm, tea! Thanks for running the giveaway. And the tea cosies are amazing.
Yes, thank you, I should love some tea! What a glorious giveaway … Please enter me to win!

Lovely! Love a nice pot of tea. ☕????
I love you designs. So quirky and fun. And I love tea, and I am a clinician in the nhs. Apart from the fact that my knitting is rubbish, we are so similar!
Would love the teapot. As the only tea drinker in my house a two cuppa is perfect size for me!
What a lovely prize – I love my paned (Welsh for cuppa)
hello from alien capital! Its desert cold and we love tea! Gorgeous tea covers to die for. Much love
Tea and crochet! Count me in!
What charming tea cozies. I love them both. I hope winter passes for you quickly. It sure looks mighty cold, but how nice to have all that wonderful tea, and the charming pots for brewing. Happy new year.
Are the teapots two cup size or are they two mug size? My DH drinks decaffeinated tea, I drink ‘ordinary’ loose leaf tea, both brews are made in teapots of course, we have our own special Emma Bridgewater mugs, I frequently drink three mugs of tea, especially at breakfast hence my interest in the size of these teapots.
Hi Pixiemum. I’ve just measured, and the pot holds just over half a litre, i.e. just over a pint, so this is enough for two cups but not two large mugfuls. I hope that’s helpful. Happy New Year.
Oh my the christmas tree tea cosy is so cute!! Well done ????
Thank you. 🙂
I love both patterns!
